A useful Straddle Trading EA demonstration should leave you with a clear record of what you saw and what still needs checking. Start with questions about the software and its operating conditions before discussing a licence. This checklist is a review aid, not a recommendation to trade.
Start with the exact product
Ask the presenter to identify the product name, build number and account edition on screen. Keep Straddle Standard and Straddle Cent separate in your notes. SmartHedge is a separate product; do not treat its description or results as evidence for Straddle. Ask which platform build, account conditions and instruments are supported instead of assuming compatibility.
- Record the software version and the date of the demonstration.
- Ask which settings the presenter changed from the supplied defaults.
- Write down any unanswered compatibility questions.
Watch an order from request to outcome
Follow one example through placement, triggering, execution and closure. Ask the presenter to explain the log entries and any rejected or cancelled requests. A trigger price and an execution price answer different questions; the MT5 documentation explains that a triggered stop order sends a market request and can execute at a different price.
- Ask what happens to any untriggered order after the other side executes.
- Ask how the product handles a disconnect, a rejected request and a restart.
- Treat behaviours that were described but not demonstrated as unverified.

Request context for the evidence
Ask whether each result comes from historical simulation, a demo account or a live account. Keep the dates and settings with the result. A screenshot without those details cannot answer how consistently a process worked or what conditions produced it. Record limitations as carefully as strengths.
- Ask for the full test period and settings used.
- Check whether a separate evaluation period was used.
- Ask which failure scenarios were tested and which remain open.

Finish with a written follow-up list
Leave the session with an agreed list of documents, compatibility answers and next steps. A demonstration is an opportunity to understand the product, not a promise about future outcomes. Do not share broker passwords or remote access during a routine product enquiry. Request current licence terms separately and review them before any purchase.
Risk and evidence
This article is educational and does not provide personal investment advice. Trading can result in losses. Automated software does not remove trading risk, and a past or simulated result is not a promise of future performance. The FCA describes CFDs, including rolling spot foreign exchange, as high-risk products. Read the FCA information on CFDs and assess the risks independently.
